If there was anytime for Brendan Rice to step up, this is it
Rice had a huge opening last year and didn't step thru it and take advantage of it, that opening was almost closed with MW in the fold, now there's a crease, I'm not holding my breath that he'll make it, watching the tape of Rice vs Harris, you'd think Tre is Jerry's actual kid, the one that got all the route running technique from the HOF player...Brenden is so unpolished for being the kid of a legend...

Whoever you get at this point is going to have some sort of wart. At least Cooper challenges the D downfield and opens up underneath and intermediate receivers.

The choice now, is either to hope Harris, KLS or Reagor develops, or to sign Cooper, KA or Gabe Davis. Davis has had some success, but was only productive one year in Buffalo, and was cut outright by the Jags las season. Allen can be a possesion guy, but he never really challenged D downfield. That leaves Cooper if you want a vet option.

I wonder if he did have an injury (like a retear of the ACL) that lead to this decision. Herbert in his interview said he felt terrible for him. Normally a retirement is met with happiness for the person. I just feel like there is more to it than he's just decided to hang it up. Sad either way. My son and I enjoyed him as a bolt.

Could be a lot of things. Not necessarily a football related injury. Mike is a good guy, was a very good WR and wanted to play for the Chargers this year but something went wrong. Whatever it is, I wish him well going forward and thanks for the great games you gave us in the past.
