If he stays healthy it could be a real nice signing.

Maybe Harbaugh is finally pulling his head out of his ass and giving Herbert what he needs. I for one am done with the Herbert Love pep talks from Harb's. Herbert’s Right Arm and throwing deep to someone he TRUSTS is the pathway to the SB, with Harris blocking. Sure some situational running is fine. Now Day 2 draft a WR!

maybe he'll draft Rice's cousin in Rd7. he won't have draft picks earlier because he didn't fix one other thing on the entire team. he lost ground in fact.

Contested catches = can't get open. thats not modern football.

Dub is a Josh Palmer wash imo, nothing more. the team isn't better than the last time we got our asses kicked. Josh was injured a lot, Dub is injured a lot or more. All we can say is its better than the money he just spent on Reagor.

Ladd was pretty good at contested catches for a little guy. You can have both the ability to make contested catches as well as getting separation. They're not mutually exclusive. but down in the red zone it is nice to have someone who can make contested catches.

Ladd was better at getting open and not needing to contest passes, and not forcing Herbie to deliver pinpoint perfect passes every throw. I don't know what team you were watching if your takeaway from Ladd's 2024 season is he is a contested-catch receiver.

Dub is a decent complimentary receiver, he's a pro at least. But he's not an elite receiver as his 1 yr contract terms demonstrate. he maybe replaces about what Palmer brought last year, although Palmer is valued higher than him today. He has a similar excessive number of absences from games, there is no reason I know of to think that will change. he can't easily get open, thats why he has an excessive number of contested catches. Requiring constant contested catches increases risk of interception significantly. They also make him more prone to injury more often, which is what we saw his entire career. he'd be good against a CB3 or S - e.g. lesser talent, but he's not going to have as much success against a CB1 or CB2. he's not a WR1. We still do not have a WR1, nobody should fool themselves that we do - the league outside of LAC didn't even want to spend $6M on him, thats backup WR level wages.

eh, just killing time complaining until Joe does something. It is cathartic.

I like Williams but his style of play is not conducive to staying healthy. He went from a $20 million a year guy, to a $10 million a year guy, to a contract that can pay him up to $6 million if he hits all his incentives. There is a reason for that.

Having said that, he is here, has a rapport with Herbert so all we can do is root for him and be thankful that QJ won't be running deep sideline 50-50 balls any more.
