When I look at the Broncos and Raiders rosters... were better/deeper at almost every position. I expect us to sweep those teams again. I also predict a split vs the Chiefs. Going 4-2 in our own division is realistic.

The NFC East draw is a tough draw. But is 2-2 unrealistic? We probably lose to the Eagles... we probably beat the Giants. A split with Commanders and Cowboys is realistic IMO. I think we have a better overall roster than either team.

The AFC South is pretty weak (other than the Texans). I predict a 3-1 record vs the AFC South.

That leaves Dolphins, Vikings, and Steelers. Realistically, we should win 2 out of 3 of those games. That's 11 wins right there.
The Chiefs play the exact same schedule... except they have Bills, Lions, Ravens rather than Dolphins, Vikings, and Steelers.

It's funny to now be discounted by the talking heads simply for beefing up our woeful running game. Now we're a running team?? No NOW we have an attack that can be balanced by grinding out 5 yards or doing some play action and laying it off to the flat, or going mid or even long. I REALLY like our offensive balance this year and I think the pundits are feeding off each other in forgetting that Herbert has the rock and can sling it. My joy this year is going to be when we have a lead in the late 3rd or early 4th and we GRIND the shit out of the other team on the ground while eating the clock. That has been a missing element for us for years. Protect the lead, protect the ball, protect the win.

I say 11 wins and Herbie gets that first playoff win this year too. Progress toward a 2026 - 2030 dominant run through the NFL.

Exactly! This isn't about traveling back to 1964... this is about being balanced and playing physical.
The Chargers haven't seen that brand of football in 20 years. The Eagles proved that this brand of football can win a championship. 8 out of the top-10 run/pass ratio teams made the playoffs last year. It's part of football. It has always been part of football. Even the dynastic Patriots ran the ball well/often. Sure, the Chiefs are lopsided on offense. But they have Andy Reid and Patrick McHommes. Tip your hat to them... but copying them will be next to impossible. Find a way to beat them... not be them. NFL writers live in an echo-chamber. It must be hard maintaining independent thinking.

          Run the ball
          Play great defense

2024 KC was utterly middle of the road offensively. They only had 59 more yards than the Chargers. They got there by:

            a. Defense
            b. Luck
            c. Refs
            d. Weak division = #1 seed
            3. Coaching

each can re-order based on perspective

This is why I respect but do not fear ...

Tier 1 - tick it as a win (so we will lost 1-2 of those).

                Week 2: @ Raiders
                Week 3: vs. Broncos
                Week 4: @ Giants
                Week 6: @ Dolphins
                Week 7: vs. Colts
                Week 9: @ Titans
                Week 10: vs. Steelers
                Week 13: vs. Raiders
                Week 11: @ Jaguars

                My guess 7-2

Tier 2 - tick it as a loss (so we will win 1-2 of those).

                Week 8: vs. Vikings
                Week 18: @ Broncos
                Week 14: vs. Eagles
                Week 15: @Chiefs
                Week 5: vs. Commanders

                My guess 1-4

Tier 3 - even my wife does not know.

                Week 1: vs. Chiefs (Brazil)
                Week 16: @ Cowboys
                Week 17: vs. Texans

                My guess 2-1

My guess - We are again a wildcard 10-7 team this year.

                  notes on the schedule:
                  • 3 division games the first 3 weeks of the season is unusual.
                  • it sucks we go to KC and DEN in Dec and Jan, vs in fall.
                  • Week2 game at LVR is at 7pm PDT is late. are they running a double-header?
                  • toughest non-division games are at Sofi: WAS, PHI, MIN, PIT, HOU
                  • easiest non-division games are on the road: MIA, IND, TEN, JAX
                  • Our bye is late - week 12.
                  • We host LVR coming off our bye. nice!

                      I'm still going with 10-7

We upgraded every position of need except the most glaring one.

I was at the Houston game it it was WAY worse in person. You could almost see Bozeman's head spinning.

If by some miracle we sign a legit C and LG, i could see 11-6 or 12-5

I really think Hortiz will take one more shot at improving the o-line before the season starts. we'll see...

if everything falls perfectly , we're looking at a 17-0 season.
