Clary and Fluker won't face a better defensive player this year.orkchops:

Don't care about Clary. 15 games and counting for him. As for Fluker, I want him studying the RG position. Nail down that position for us for a couple of years.

Another silver lining is that we have mostly frustrated fans instead of apathetic fans right now. If we got blown out by 30+ points on Monday night, mostly everyone would be giving up hope and writing off the season already (not counting the Doom Patrol here).

We had a good chance to win against a top team in the NFL. That is something!

After one professional game, Fluker is now a dud as a tackle.

Seriously, this board needs a general upward trajectory in perspective. I like coming here to talk Chargers, but it's not too enjoyable when people are blowing the team and the season off one week in.

Fluker is a rookie. We knew he was going to struggle some. In his first game as a pro on MNF he went against probably the best in the league and didn't get Rivers killed. Held his own. Let PFF judge it however they like. But let your eyes tell you something too. It wasn't a disaster. He'll have other rough games this year. What matters is the progress we see over the season. And keep in mind, this is a completely new line with the exception of Hardwick running a new system. The pieces have to work together.

I did not expect the offence to put up a healthy point total. I did not expect the defence to hold the Texans to less than 14 in the first half.Somehow after watching the first half I felt our prospects were better than I thought.

Then I watched the second half...

I think that the Bolts will beat the Eagles. Lost in all the Chip Kelly euphoria is that one of the primary reasons the Eagles ran so many plays is that RGIII and the Redskins turned the ball over multiple times and had a safety in the first half. And RG111 was very, very rusty. The second half, the Redskins outgained the Eagles and almost came back. And we have a secret weapon -- Michael Vick. He is an interception waiting to happen. McCoy will have the Chargers ready.

Fluker played better than I expected he would. I got no complaints about him at all.

Guessing by season's end Watt has many better games, but few that are worse.

RG? Come on Smokey. Fluker is the closest thing to a quality RT prospect we have had in years. Yes, he would be a great RG too but he was drafted to be the RT and that's harder to find than a serviceable guard. For his first NFL game Monday night I thought he did well. Give the kid a chance.
