IMHO, regardless of if they sign FA OC and/or OG they should draft both as well. At a minimum it would improve the depth of the oline.Originally posted by Boltinloudguy View Post
Agreed! I’m a big fan of Jones! I am leaning more towards signing either Linderbaum or McGovern to give Herbert that vet presence at C. I would then draft RG Keylan Rutledge in the 2nd.
On top of drafting a RG that high. I would bring in Elijah Vera Tucker on a prove it deal and have him battle for that RG position. So either way, Vera Tucker beats him out and plays well and Rutledge gets a year to develop. If Vera Tucker gets hurt, Rutledge is there to start.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

Tucker would have to be a very cheap signing. He has been such a China doll. In fact with all the OL injuries we have had, i think I'd have to pass.Originally posted by Boltinloudguy View Post

I would take a shot on a cheap deal. When he’s healthy, he’s really good. If he gets hurt, you’ve got Rutledge right there. Who knows, Rutledge might even beat him out. The Chargers have had success with previously injured players like Dobbins and Fulton. Fulton got a nice payday after 1 year with the Chargers.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

Dobbins still missed games, and hurt again this year. Fulton is a backup with KC. But again, vet minimum, ok. He is just a big injury risk and not willing to take the chance.Originally posted by Boltinloudguy View Post

We need the OL better and healthier.
Reminds me of the OG Oday Aboushi we signed who played well for us and around something like 5-7 games he got hurt and not sure if he returned. Everyone wanted him back and he signed elsewhere and got hurt again which had been his career. .

I would love to steal both LG David Edwards and OC Connor McGovern away from the Bills during free agency.
Bring them over in tandem knowing they already work well in tandem.
OTC has their market value @$11.3m and @$12.2m respectively.
Then, I'd draft a LG in the 2nd or 3rd round. Slater, Edwards, McGovern, Rookie, Alt.
BTW, OTC has Zion Johnson's market value set @$11m. I'm not sure why he is just a bit lower than Edwards... age...?
If Zion indeeds commands $11m on the open market... I think it's best to upgrade for a minimal increase.
Cutting Becton seems like a forgone conclusion. Saves us $10m.
In the end, if we could upgrade from Zion/Becton to Edwards/McGovern for only $3m more in cap space... I'd do that.Protect the QB
Run the ball
Play great defense

Isn’t Edwards a LG? Who’s the best RG available, Ed Ingram?Originally posted by Boltnut View PostI would love to steal both LG David Edwards and OC Connor McGovern away from the Bills during free agency.

So I guess the question is, are there better LGs or RGs available in free agency? Are there better LGs or RGs available in the draft. To me, there are better LGs available in free agency and better RGs in the draft. I’m not a huge fan of switching sides for lineman, I’d much rather have stay on the same side.
So if Edwards is a better signing than Zion, I’m all for it. I am all about signing McGovern. I have a hard time thinking they’d let Zion go. Harbaugh loves him. I think his game would be much better with a better C. I’d be happy with either Edwards or Zion.
If they sign Zion or Edwards and McGovern I’d be really happy with either Keylan Rutledge, Brian Parker or Jaeden Roberts. Rutledge and Parker are my votes in the 2nd. Parker seems like the type they like an OT with high IQ that can play RG.

If Zion and Edwards are asking for the same money... then I'd prefer Edwards. Bonus points for getting his teammate McGovern.Originally posted by Boltinloudguy View Post

Slater, Edwards, McGovern, Rutledge, Alt. That would be outstanding! That group would establish the run and let the whole offense open up.Protect the QB

CB could be a dark horse position in the 1st rnd but know it's not something I would do. If the value is there, I could definitely see them jump on it. Brandon Cisse @ South Carolina could be a player they select.
Just for the record I'm all about the trenches this draft. 4-5 guys that I have landed on regardless of what they do in FA are: Vega, Pregnon, Washington, or McDonald. I would be ok with Proctor as well.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
