Oi, I used to be a ref for a Pop Warner league!

All the parents were pricks so I quit before I snapped on one of them mind.

just kidding! how i would run it (generally speaking, guys can still rotate into other roles):

      1. KLS and Tre are the deep guys (the X, for people who love the lingo). rotate them often to keep them fresh and tire out the DB's.
      2. rotate Ladd and Keenan often to keep them fresh (Ladd as the lead guy).
      3. fit in QJ on 3 WR sets and fit in wherever it works. not that he is always the 3rd guy. i would like to see Ladd and Keenan both on the field for some plays.

I think it less about 1,2,3 and more about using all of these guys. not forgetting DD, but i would save him for the return game, and have him fill in when guys are injured.

above all, this is the year for Herbert, adding in the new TE's, he finally has a full arsenal of weapons, it is time for him to flash top 5 skills and win the tough games.
I don't know 2 vs 3 vs 4 vs 5, actually. Gro and Co seem to value NFL experience, I'd expect Q is running between 1 and 3 right now. It will be interesting how much rotation our WR room gets but to me what it really means is that when 1 or 2 get dinged, as they do every year, we will not have a huge drop in capability. In the meantime - ??? - if KLS and TH both come out solid early, that will reduce DD's chances as you note so they can save him for ST returns.

Hines sure as fuck didn't earn any PR reps come regular season - poor guy is better than he showed. One big return won't make Grimm a sudden starting ST returner either.

all just guesses based on observations ... it'll be interesting, can't wait for football that counts!

that wasn't enough tug to ever get called imo. Unless your QB wears red.

i would love the Grimm Reaper theme if Grimm had to fill in for DD. practice squad for now for Grimm? DD is a stud returner, so right now he is the guy.

I like him, just doubt there's a spot for him. If coaches had any doubts about DD, we'd see DD in PS games. That we are not says all I need to hear. Starters sit, roster-margin guys play the most.

definitely. and more likely if it's the game winning drive for the chiefs.

                  Disagree ..... ball was approaching, ref just didn't see it;

Given the angle between the ref and the players - yes, it doesn't get called .... ref can't see thru QJ's body.
If it was earlier in the route, where refs can better see it, it gets called as a defensive hold - no question.

QJ is the starting x-receiver when healthy, and if he starts out the first quarter of the season repeating his uneven performance of last year,
he'll get less opportunities, and be moved down the depth chart .... provided KLS is productive when thrown to.

Why some here want some other approach is beyond me.

if it was a big enough pull, they would have seen it. he didn't grossly and visibly change Q's route enough. It was the type of subtle sneaky hands stuff every CB does on every play (you know ... almost). I agree technically it was PI, I still think its never called unless Mahomes is down by 4.

that second one though - WTF!!!

They were talking about getting more pass plays in for DD. I like Grimm but believe its PS for him currently.

I put Grimm 3rd in line among receivers for the practice squad. Campbell has outplayed him overall and has much better size, and for some reason Harbaugh seems to love Jalen Reagor. I don't think Grimm makes the team.

Campbell didn't help his case vs Rams. That was an ugly "Huh? was I supposed to look for a ball in the air?".
