KC controlled Barkley pretty much but that was about it for them.

      1. Chris Jones starting the downhill slide? His sacks total has declined by 5 the last few years: 15, 10 , 5.
He's 31 and DTs generally decline rapidly by this age ... having played in a ton of post season games, that can't help.

      2. Chiefs best group is their inside linebackers: two of them are liabilities in pass coverage (Bolton & Chenal).
Chargers are much better positioned to exploit them at tight end and running back this year.

      3. Chiefs have added two new starting defensive backs, in a group known for their cohesion under Spagnuolo.
Chargers know quite a bit about Fulton's play, and his injury history and his tail-off the 2nd half of last year is of concern.
This group is a far cry from: Reid, Cook, McDuffie and Sneed from 2023.

      4. With age and losses, who will step up and improve? Karlaftis? I doubt it. The rookies they brought in?
Most probably, this defense will take a few steps down from where they were.
I want to pound the rock and lean on Hampton the break tackles to soften up the defense however someone needs to help Bozeman.

When KC plays against a high powered passing game they'll give up some big plays. 2 games vs the Bills plus the SB their defense gave up avg. 33 points or so.

Triplets ranking. Is Mahomies on the downside? Will Kelce continue his downhill slide? To be determined.

          Rank
          11
          8
          Kansas City Chiefs

Ranking a Patrick Mahomes-led group outside of the top 10 on any list feels like risky business, if not rank stupidity. But after the rollicking start to the quarterback’s NFL career, his statistical downturn over the past two seasons has been pretty stark:
          • Mahomes in 2018-2022: 303.3 passing yards per game, 8.1 yards per attempt, 106.0 passer rating, with a total TD-to-INT ratio of 192:48.
          • Mahomes in 2023 and ’24: 253.5 ypg, 6.9 ypa, 93.0 passer rating, with a total TD-to-INT ratio of 53:25.

Stats aside, Mahomes and Co. are clearly still getting the job done. Kansas City’s been in five the past six Super Bowls, for god’s sake, earning three Lombardi Trophies in that span. But football’s just better when Mahomes is unleashed, providing laser light shows on a weekly basis. Make the Chiefs fun again!
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
          Let’s win one for Mack.

I suspect when the talking heads start making predictions for this game, more than a few will choose the Bolts.

Last year it was almost laughable the amount of calls the Chiefs were getting from the officials. Will that continue too?

And I hope the league puts in officials that call pre snap movement by their RT on almost every play. It’s a joke at times how bad it is.

Last year Rice missed most of the year, Brown missed most of the year, Pacheco missed most of the year and wasn't the same when he came back, and their tackles were pretty bad but the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl anyway. I don't buy that Mahomes has regressed, the pieces around him have just drastically deteriorated the last few years.

I wouldn't be shocked if we won, but I'm never picking us against them until I actually see us do it.

And players on the teams they play against throwing the games away for them and doing stuff on purpose that enables the Chiefs to win.

getting beaten by speed or finesse does not kill the soul but being beaten up physically like the eagles did last SB, or the way the old school raideras or steelers would do does kill the soul and kill your willingness to fight.....

Chargers need to physically beat them up and kill their will to continue!
