Offense, defense and special teams. Everybody has to show up.
The D can't carry us against KC and Denver for example. I don't see us winning 10- 0.
If you're saying our D will hold most teams below their average O production, I agree.

Minter got us to 11-6, thats most of our views right now. Greg can change our opinions, I'm open minded.
You can tell what the organization thought was the reason as Harbaugh came out and said they let Herbert down and we drafted 4 skill players and signed another 3 in FA that are all on the team.

We scored the 11th most points because the D did a good job of getting the offense the ball. In other words the D was very efficient. The offense was not.
Same can be said of Denver and KC. Consider that we averaged 134 ypg rushing in wins, but only 64 ypg in losses. In 5 of those six losses we passed for
an average on 169 ypg. The lone exception was the Arizona game where Herbert passed for over 300 yards in a loss.

So in as far as last year goes when were not able to run the ball we lost and the passing offense in those games was terrible. In my opinion there were several
factors. The first and most important one being the O line. We did a poor job of protecting Herbert on 50% of his drop backs. Second most important factor
was lack of playmakers (yes we had injuries that contributed to this as well). The third most important factor was Roman. He doesn't seem to have the
capacity to dynamically change his philosophy. Unfortunately again in my opinion 2/3 of those factors are still in play.

So new season, new playmakers. Let's hope for improvement on the O line and Roman's playbook. If we can stay away from critical injuries we should
have a fine season. Hopefully capped off with a PO win or two.

We scored the 11th most points because the offense was good in the red zone. D and STs were great and gave us opportunities that we hadn't earned.
This year Healthy Herbert and his solid group of weapons need to show up. 27 ppg avg at min. 30+ and we're frickin bad ass.

Don't understand this, the defense has nothing to do with what the offense does when it gets the ball. When the offense is below average in passing and rushing yards, but is almost top 10 in scoring, to me that indicates the offense is very efficient in the area that matters the most - scoring points.

This is is true, it can also mean the offense consistently got the ball with good field position, which is a compliment to the defense, but it shows the offense is not too far away from being a top unit, just need some upgrades.

perhaps. or perhaps the defense gave them more opportunities. or more likely a fuzzy gray compromise between the two.

It has a lot to do with it. Field position. Turnovers. Number of chances the offense gets per game.

I tend to side with your perspective but I'm curious how many of those points per game were FGs, XPs and D scores on takeaways?

Not true. We were 18th in red zone efficiency @ 56%. But 11th in total scoring.

Reading a couple of Power Rankings they put the Chargers way below and they all seem point out Slater's injury and the LT position, they seem to forget Alt is actually a Left Tackle, the problem is not there, the problem is the RT.

The problem is at RT, C, LG. RG, we have to wait and see. 4/5 O line guys are the same as last year. O line had lots of trouble last year.
