My challenge to this forum! As we zoom in on the Raider Game, I've got to ask...are even the enthusiastic believers here under-appreciating this team's offense? 27 points is nice, but not earth-shattering, right?
I want you to consider three factors about the Chief's game:
-We faced a top, well coached defense w/the Chiefs
-The offense only had 8 possessions (near league bottom) at chances to score. And our last possession needed merely to exhaust the clock, so really only 7 count.
-We were also near league bottom at starting field position. Easy scores were never on the table. Every point required Herbert and company to go on long marches.
Despite all these massive obstacles the team posted top-drawer results in yards-per-drive and points-per-drive. Under different circumstances this would have been a 40 point outburst. Reminds me, a history major, of early Napoleonic battles.
It's just one week and each week in the NFL is it's own universe...but if we did this on the Chiefs...what is on the horizon when facing lesser defenses like the Raiders?
