Ask Mahomes and Geno about trying to beat this Charger's group deep. Look at the numbers. They failed miserably with nothing to show for their efforts. Insert Coin. Try Again.

The Broncos have a superior o-line and two good backs. The Bolt secondary pressed up aggressively on run and during a *few trick plays* were exposed.

Giants don't have a good o-line. And don't have a Payton offensive wizard scheming things up.

Kayvon Thibodeaux, while not exactly living up to the top five pick he was in 2022, is a good pass-rusher, with 1.5 sacks so far. If you don't think that's a significant challenge for our offensive line, I don't know what to tell you.

The Giants' secondary isn't nearly as good as Denver's, so if Herbert can get enough time to throw, plays can certainly be made.
We just saw the fucking Browns beat the Packers last Sunday, we see shit like this every fucking week in the NFL...with that in mind, the dismissive approach makes less sense to me...

They might not be the most complete team, but there's nothing wrong with recognizing that the Giants posses certain elements that match up well against our weaknesses, such as their D-line and Edge rushers...it's not "the sky is falling" it's just acknowledging that there is no such thing as just show up and collect your win in the NFL.....

        3. Jaxson Darts scrambling ability

These are 3 legitimate concerns and 3 areas of weakness other teams know. The pass rush has to get home quick but also stay disciplined because of Darts scrambling ability. Dye and Henley need to be ready. Interior pass rush is going to be vital in this one and keeping a cap on the back end. Get in Darts grill early, confuse him with coverages to get him rattled.

Scattebo will punish the defenders if they are not ready.
I don’t accept #2 as fact. We have given up a couple deep balls but every secondary gives up a couple every game. I trust in Minter and I recognize his results. His defense has played winning football 3 weeks in a row against 3 teams that are all better than NYG.

Gro needs to game plan based on the assumption Herbie needs to do something quick. Agree - their rush can be countered, but I have full confidence we will score in the 20s (at least) as long as Herbert is taking snaps … and that will be more than enough.

          hate to be overconfident but...
I might as well start working on the Game Day Thread for the Commanders.
The Bolts "used" to make rookie QB's look like HOFers in the making...BUT that was the past....

The Broncos had them beat 4 separate times deep and Nix only hit one of them on the TD to Sutton. I do trust Minter and the defensive staff to figure it out, but it is a concern going in.

I believe Mahomes missed on a deep throw to Thornton as well.

The defense usually does a great job of keeping big plays in front of them but we cannot dismiss there have been a few breakdowns. There were FOUR against the Broncos. We were lucky that Bo Nix blew it and missed 3 wide open receivers that beat our coverage deep 3 more times. If he hit just one of those plays with a decent throw we are looking at a diferent outcome for that game and not sitting here 3-0.

There is room for Minter to work on that and clean that up. Getting Molden back and playing less of Gilman might help, though Molden was burned in week 1 also. Defense has been great overall but there have been a few lapses in deep coverage

This game should get some extra attention with the Chargers being 3-0 and mainly with the New York and NFL media covering Jaxson Dart's first start.

Tre Harris knows a thing or two about the Giants.

He was Malik Nabor’s HS QB.

Jaxson Dart was Tre’s QB at Ole Miss when Harris led the SEC in yards in 2023 (985) and TD’s in 2024 (14)

Jaxson Dart was good enough to make Harris the 55th player taken in the draft and since Charger scouts probably evaluated every single one of his catches, they must have a lot of intel on Jaxson Dart to go along with their Harris evaluation.

Truth. Any given Sunday is what's made the NFL what it is. Nothing is given, everything must be earned and the Chargers will have to go out and perform to get this W. Giants aren't gonna lay down and if Dart gives them a spark it's gonna be a battle

Last time the Giants beated the Chargers
Danny Kanell was at QB for NY
For the Chargers, it was Ryan Leaf

If Jaxson Dart has early success it could fuel contagious excitement throughout the team and elevate their play.

Conversely, if Minters defense can shutdown the offense in the first couple of series, it could quickly drain the hope of Jaxson sparking the offense and that enthusiasm turns into the realization they are going nowhere.

I think the first quarter of this game is crucial in setting the tone and expectations.
