PFF is quite (overly?) generous with how they attribute QB Pressures, esp. relative to Pro-Football-Reference. With PFFs measurement they attribute Latu 23 pressures; despite having only one sack. They view him as an extremely balanced, all around-edge player, with nearly identical run-defense and pass-rush scores (Both quite good but not great).
I gotta agree with your skepticism. He's not generating sacks, nor making a lot of tackles. I'll concede: the dude has special NFL instincts.
Very oddly, for a guy playing his position Latu has two interceptions and three passes batted down.
It's late, I've had my drinks and am headed to bed. Forgive if I haven't fairly responded. But overall: I 100% agree with you in questioning the score, though we haven't scrutinized the film with the detail they have.
PFF is far from a God's eye-judgement (And likely it's best we don't invite God to judge the NFL.The entire league might burn up in a microsecond, LOL). I just don't have better alternatives for quick grades.
Sometimes coaching excellence moves mountains. And sometimes battles are won strategically, more than with sheer man-power, such as: Rommel vs. Patton in North Africa, if you know your history. And it's often not about the supreme generals, but those operational on the field of battle.
If you don't think Shane Steichen vs. Jesse Minter isn't thesingle most pivotal match-up on Sunday...our opinions diverge. Football now is more like chess than ever in the past. Teams with mastermind coaching usually prevail.
Shane Steichen's resume?
-Shepherded and boosted Justin Herbert to rookie-of the year performance while in L.A.
-Turned a mediocre Jalen Hurts and a mediocre Philly offense into a star player and Super Bowl winning team.
-As HC in Indy has utilized scheme and existing talent at RB and O-line...with thrown-away Daniel Jones...to create the most #1 most prolific offense in the NFL through week six.
Jesse Minter's resume?
-Collegiate National Championship where the defense was the biggest story
-Conjured a top five Charger defense in '24 cobbled together with a couple of known talents, a few middle-round rookies... and tons of duct tape.
-Is reprising his role in '25 with much of the same: Limited talent at numerous positions, esp. where it matters most: pass rush.
For me...this is perhaps the most interesting narrative on October 19, 2005 AD (AD=Year of our Lord), Chargers versus Colts. I must concede that as brilliant as Minter has been, Steichen's resume is stronger. Time for a statement Minter game? LET'S GO!

OH Boy I hate to be this dude, but history needs to be accurate.

Rommel never fought Patton in North Africa.

True.
Patton was a great motivator but Rommel was an actual strategiist.

(My Grandfather was a Brigadier General and fought under Patton in Europe. I was riding inside M60 tanks before I was 10)
Rommel had to leave the North African theater and return to Germany to recover from some stomach ailment, Patton faced a German general named von Armin, is what I recall. My dad was captured in 1942 at the disastrous Dieppe Raid in France attempting to pinch a German Enigma. He was a POW until liberated in 1945 about a week before the end of the war.
