I believe on game day everybody here is just as passionate rooting for the Chargers to win.
The difference, perhaps, is some of us like to post objectively about the teams strengths and deficiencies and how that is likely to affect the outcome of the next game.
Personally, that conditions me to more easily accept defeats and be more pleasantly surprised by wins.
It might be surprising to some but the 8-4 record to date exceeds what I would have forecasted at the beginning of the season if I knew Alt, Harris, & Hampton injuries in addition to Slater.

OK. That's not what you said but I get the concept.Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post
Its pretty basic what I am saying , what beats a hapless 2-10 team that has lost 9 straight games will not necessarily beat the next 5 contenders that have QBs and serious defenses
I believe both offense and defense schemes are adjusted to best match up vs individual opponents.
The Eagles have struggled vs run offense. I expect to attack that weakness.
Regards Chargers reach 4th and 1 at the goal line, guaranteed there will be a different plan.

Agree, Riverwalk. The fact this team is 8-4 without an offensive line, a mediocre pass rush, and a practice squad running back, is amazing and a testament to Harbaugh. On the other hand, under Staley and Lynn, we wouldn't find a way to lose until late in the 4th quarter. This year, we know it is over by midway of the 3rd quarter.

Yes, glad you mentioned the pass rush. They let Bosa go and entered the season with less talent at that position, IMO.Originally posted by Bolts0503 View PostAgree, Riverwalk. Same for DL when their best player Ford walked.
So the defense has also exceeded my expectations. How does Minter do it?

you don't have to share my enthusiasm. I read every post in this forum, I'm not making it up when I claim there are posts characterizing the Chargers as worse than the other teams competing for the playoffs now. There was a not-small contingent that didn't believe we would even beat the 2-9 Raiders. They are now 2-10 with their asses freshly whooped. You were quick to point out that it doesn't mean anything after the game lol.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post
Such hyperbole. lol
That would be like me saying some folks here think we are better than every other team in the NFL.
What’s real is the 35-6 Jaguar loss is still fresh in the minds of some of us which doesn’t allow us to share in your unbridled enthusiasm and need to criticize those that don’t honestly feel the same.
I've never said we are better than every team in the NFL. I've said we are not. Aren't you the one that criticizes strawmen arguments? yeah, you are.
this seems personal to you, are you doubting your positions?

I disagree that consistently negative predictions are objective. I fully realize that "conditioning" yourself to expect defeat is a defense mechanism, its transparent. What it is not is objective.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post

I'm curious - what would you have predicted sans Alt Harris Hampton and Slater? Whats your prediction for next MNF?Justin Herbert 2026 MVP Watch

I point out issues to lower expectations a bit, to make them more realistic, so it does not kill me and others so much if/when they lose..... of course I want to win every game..... but we are not yet so talented to expect that....lol
Trying to lower the stresss level helps us all.... supporting Chargers for over 50 years, is not great for our health if we get too fired up about it.... lol
Ive heard a MIA fan on NFL radio sayiong he was so upset about MIA losing a game they were supposed to win that he broke his TV???/.....lol
Chargers, if we play well and are not flat, at least have a shot to win every game..... unfortunately we have been flat in 3-4 games this season, which is not good....

I think this game benefits both teams to stick with the run even if the run does not work early in game.....which should limit mistakes and keep scoring lower....
Both teams have been susecptible to the run.... both teams have been stuggling on offense....

The remainder of our 2025 fortunes ride or die with Herbert, that much is quite obvious. The only way that the Chargers coaches can devise to be remedial out of Herbert's unfortunate injury situation would be to try to shield him from further injuries and potential loss of Herbert for the rest of the season. A part of this plan, whether Herbert can even go the next Monday, ought to be utilizing Lance in designed plays for Lance to hop in and out of the game. If Herbert is a no go against the Eagles out of abundance of caution, then Lance it is going to be and who knows? Lance may take the opportunity presented to him to showcase himself to potential 2026 suitors. This can not be emphasized enough that the thoughts must be swirling wildly in this young backup's mind. I don't really wish for us to be the guinea pig for this experiment, but I do not want a handicapped Justin just like what had happened in 2021; that was not so long ago!
