yes... and remember, Lamar was a blazing fast RB with a cannon for an arm but was not consistently accurtate.... strong arm BUT not a great passer... and not good anticipation/touch

Herbert is a great passer who can run when needed, but running should be just in certain situations....

He might get to pick his OL coach. Not sure about pass game coordinator or QB coach since they’re both still here. QB coach, in particular, feels untouchable after this season.

no..... they lost to the chiefs BECAUSE the Chiefs could SHUT DOWN THE RUN!.... like most playoff teams...... and Lamar cannot beat you as a pocket QB..... just keep him contained and force him to try an=d throw accurately.....

It’s finding the right balance. You want someone who has a modern offense but also not super green on the offensive side since Jim doesn’t call plays like Dan Campbell does if there are issues.

I have no actual idea but I still think they announced Roman and Devlin because those are the big two names that the 2025 season points at and the rest of the offensive coaching staff should continue to rent.

I don't get the Hardwick love I saw posted that is attributed to Harbaugh (yesterday, today?). I loved him as a Charger but that was as a player. Wasn't his one job this year to coach Bozeman? What did they see that they love, if its true? I sure did not see it on the field.

Thats a great way to put it

With this stage of the Justin Herbert career, I am fine with an OC that might have a higher floor, lower ceiling, but is ready to rock this year. I don't want to waste another year of Justin's career with a guy learning on the job. Now, that doesn' tmean, the new guy can't be a success- Coen kicked butt with Tampa. It is tricky - but like you said, knows the modern offense

I assume you are right that the new OC should pick his staff....though Herbert got to choose Day?......I assume Minter picked all of his staff?
this also does not mean that the OC or DC will not listen to others or other suggestions?

Agreed on QB Coach unfortunately! I do think Herbert and Day are too buddy buddy. Who knows we’ll see how it goes with another season with Day.

If you can bring in Bill Callahan as the Oline Coach now, you do it. Don’t wait for the OC. Let the OC pick his own pass game Corrdinator.

Which is why Monken is the perfect fit.
                    My final Mock:

I think most of that has to do with Lamar being limited as a passer, which Herbert is not.

Monken isn't my top choice, but I won't be upset if he's hired.

It doesnt have to be 5000 yards but Herbert should be reaching 4000 yards a season in his sleep

He might just be the perfect fit because I kind of have this feeling Jim wants a more known peer if you will over an unknown from another system
And I think for Jim, getting the seal of approval from John - wouldn't be so bad.

I have a few names I don't want (Arthur Smith) - but am open to the person taht can take this offsense to a new damn level - unknown levels never seen before.
I want to have a very good defense - but a dominant, put a 30 burger on the board every tweek, type of offense
