POLL: What Should We Do With QJ?

I like QJ, but the Chargers haven't picked up Johnston's 5th year option. They have until May 1 to keep him under contract through the end of 2027. Cost would be $15.9 mil. Do we trade him now for a sure draft pick? Or do we let him go and maybe get a comp pick, if the formula works in our favor? Are we deep enough at wideout? What say eeeeuuuuwww???

I think he can help the team win next year.

I like QJ, but I've said before that he seems to have a limited route tree...slants and crossers are his forté...if we can get a decent pick or picks for him, I'd be willing to let him go, especially because we have some nice depth with KLS and Campbell in development...remember that Campbell had a few nice preseason catches...I don't think QJ's drop rate is really that bad compared with other wideouts with similar targets...

i think keep him and try to extend him after the season, if he has another good year.

so many 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks don't pan out. QJ has shown that he can produce. use him correctly and he can do even more.

Where is the exercise his 5th year option choice? Would give us 2 more years of control.

I’ll offer Tom Bowlcut and Co, QJ for gimpy Maxx straight up. If they play to be too cute, I’ll ask for a 5th rounder plus Maxx.

From what I recall, his fifth-year option is to expensive to even consider.

It is supposed to be between $15.9 and $18 million.

not too expensive for a wide receiver in your long term plan...

QJ had 16 touchdowns the past 2 seasons in a Greg Roman offense. That's a lot of production to account for. Plus we're 5-2 when he scores a touchdown.

I see no reason he can't give us a 10-TD season under McDaniels. The 5th year option he be paid roughly the 25th ranked WR by salary/season https://overthecap.com/position/wide-receiver
