But on the other hand, as position switches in the NFL go, this one makes use of a practically identical skill set. There are some technique things Slaughter will have to get accustomed to, but IMO he'll be able to do those things with the skill set he already possesses.

    It's not like he's being converted to TE, and he has to develop NFL quality hands and learn routes.
    He is a bit of a polarizing IOL prospect though. Some graders love him and some do not.

    What is never questioned is his leadership, character, intelligence..and he is athletic...all good. But he is a bit lean, not super strong, and struggles at times to maintain physicality until the whistle. One thing you will see is that he is on the ground a lot...too much.

      Yes, and that is where I really like him fitting in to the scheme of things, exactly that...good depth until he becomes our starting long term center...and I have no problem with using a 2nd round pick on that.

      Given that I want to be thinking seriously about a SB run this year I would love to see an established LG and Slaughter in the role you suggest....but I am open to be surprised if Slaughter comes in and takes that LG spot. I just don't feel real confident about that.
