Damn how bad (good for us) is the OT market?

Well about a year ago, the Chargers gave up a pick for Austin Deculus. And at the deadline, they gave up a pick for Trevor Pennning

So based on how injuries might affect teams, there could be a market for Penning or guys the Chargers might release

The Patriots traded a 2029 7th and Caedon Wallace to Miami for a 2029 6th -- or some kind of trade like that

If the Chargers -by chance, have TOO many good OLine, Penning might have a market.

That is something to think about - sure. Penning is not a guard, nor LT ... keeping him at RT and you might get by.

Lots of starting OTs going down, and if they think Pip can hold up for a year (debatable), than a 5th is very realistic trade for him.
Branson Taylor might also be able play there in a pinch ... but I forget how he performed there last year.

truth be told, and if I had my druthers, would put Strange @LG, and slot Slaughter behind him @LG, and let him beat out Strange for the starting job there, and then start Penning @LG, and if he doesn't pick up where he left off after Denver, then would think about sliding Strange over to LG, as do agree that Penning blows @LT, albeit other than PBB 'n Jolt, not absolutely certain he blows @RG nor RT, and.... seem to recall that plenty o' peoples here think Trevor isn't half bad @OL6 in the jumbo pkg ??

far as Logan Taylor, got no prob putting him on the ps along w/Harkey, and even tho I suggested moving the both of Kayode 'n Pips, might be cautious there until peoples established themselves @the guard positions and backup tackle, as don't feel secure @all w/Burke backing up Rashawn....

You mean start Penning at RG? This is not last year's offense - it's very much different, and I do not think that Penning picks up things very quickly. He has a very long learning curve, which is a great deal of his problem.

Personally, I am not a fan of guards over 6'5". Landon Dickerson at 6'6" /332 pounds, is the only pro bowler above that height, and Penning is 6'7".

Logan Taylor is 6'7" and 314 ... he probably needs to get bigger and stronger, so possibly not worried about putting him on the practice squad.

Compared to the steaming pile o crap we had as depth last year maybe but Penning isnt good at either OT and isnt sounding too good at OG right now. The Saints did have him there at LG as well before they took our 6th rounder as a theft. Then we tried him at LT which was quickly revolked.

As for the jumbo package, we have more guys we can have there now. Id try and recoup that 6th we wasted on Penning to any team that has a OL injury.

32 - 33 inches ... 34 inches sounds like an OT who can't hang at OT, being heavy footed.

Getting back to Logan Taylor's preference: power gap, inside zone or wide zone ... probably wide zone, given his 5.18 40 time and 31 inch vertical ... some explosion and speed to his game.

Which of these wide zone teams might place him on their 52 man roster? If Taylor shows them enough in preseason games, sure ... some of those Olines stink to high heaven.

Trey Smith is a 6'6 guard who has been a pro bowler too.
