Hes just a follower of ours on twitter. I posted it because it had the link to the NFL video. And by posting followers tweets here it may bring them in to become a member.

I think a lot of draft guys thought that building our OL is about a year overdue. Last year, we were in position to get Tunsil or Stanley for LT, or even Jack Conklin at RT.

Of course, with the exception of Conklin, who most of the draftniks were down on, they would have had us reaching for Tunsil or Stanley. Tunsil was solid, but Staley was injured a lot. Barksdale was coming off a pretty decent season and it wasn't entirely clear that Dunlap was done yet. But we desperately needed interior OL help, and didn't get any help there until we got Slausson just before the last mini-camp. I'm just not sure it was such a great draft to add that much help inside, and that was where we really needed it. Plus, Bosa is unbelieveble.

This year, I know people were down on the OL, but Lamp was as good as any OL in the draft if you can get past the fact he is not a prototype OT. Feeney is a great short set guy who is really good in a zone scheme and solid in a power scheme. We have Slausson and didn't overpay for Franklin or Fluker. Okung is not a great player, but he is a good run blocker and allow pressure as a pass blocker but doesn't get the QB killed by missing completely. We just need to find someone to replace Barksdale and may need more help in the future, but we got people on short term contracts or as value picks based on conventional wisdom of draft value.

Maybe it was just a good draft? No head scratchers or unknown players or trades up for players that no one else really wanted that early. Picks that directly fill needs.

It seems like every team had a good draft. Was this crop that deep?

I think part of what people liked about our draft was we filled needs without reaching much.

Most other teams just went with the draft, read their boards and added a lot of good players. But it seems like as I go team by team, a lot of them didn't necessarily fill the highest priority needs.

I do think this draft was that deep, as long as you just wanted to add good players. If you were looking for a pure OT, then you were pretty well screwed.
