Maybe you should print your 'memory banks' out on punch cards so you don't forget them.

We won't spend significant cap space on a RB with Matthews and Woodhead on the roster.

To discus realistic oppertunities in FA or extending current players that has to be part of the discussion. That said FA is risky, and mistakes now can be far more long lasting than blowing a top five draft pick.

Pre CBA free agency was less risky than draft bad in the top five picks, now a number 1 pick vs the top FA in free agency interms of cap commitment is not even close. You will pay 60+mill for a JJ Watt fa ans garrentee over 30 mil. If he flames out you are screwed.

Draft is now the low risk low cost pool. The key is findi.g good healthy blue coller lunchpail guys in FA drafting well extending our own and occationaly take a well measured shot in FA, but never depend on it.

It would be easy to blame the secondary for a lot, but the lack of a pass rush is really the issue, IMO. With the NFL emphasis on passing I'd say edge rushers are a higher priority than a NT. Thats right I said it. A NT is NOT as important today or to this defense than a pass rush. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! :rasta::rasta::rasta:

Yes, but the selective stats in the OP don't tell the whole story of the defense. This defense is lacking all over the place but having an offense that keeps the other team off the field for so long will slant the stats in various ways

I don think anyone actually can consider us a good defense right now. The question is whether or not they can improve going forward.

Pass rush wise, I don't think so. We just don't have the personnel with the injures.

Everywhere else though, they can improve. To a man our core guys of Reyes, Liuget, Butler (in particular), and Weddle have underperformed. All those guys (besides Butler who is sidelined again) have risen their game recently and really need to be disruptive going forward. Now it's up to guys like Te'o, Wright (very solid vs Indy), Cox, Gilchrist, and Patrick to perform better for the overall team D to improve.

Seahawks definitely don't have an average defense. Those DBs are great.

Definitely. When they get their injured players back, that will be a really scary team.
