    ...then there's the one characterization he'll never shake;

-loser. Takes drafted talent nowhere; ex. Heath Shuler; takes inherited talent to sub .500; San Diego Chargers.

    Hey-that's what makes a loser, a loser.

We will have the chance to compare the improvement of our offense with that of the Browns offense this year I suppose.

Norv will be surprisingly successful in Cleveland I predict.

Norv is good at the X's and O's but he has no leadership /motivational skills. NFL players are fresh out of College and want the rah rah, we are the best Marty bullshit stuff, even LT did.

He does dial it back with a young QB and he is great with those (Alex Smith etc.) and he does make it easier for the WR's (Floyd's comments about learning new short stuff this year after so many years in the NFL versus go deep with Norv).

He has a RB who is what Ryan Mathews should have been.

        BUT ...

Yelling and being strict disciplinarian are not the same thing.
No way he adapts anything to his non-QB players.
Flexible and not wedded to 1 system, are you kidding me.
I have to stop now, I'm getting angry about all those lies.

PS - Isn't this the same BS the media said about McCoy when we hired him as our HC:

        - right guy to fix QB Rivers
        - strict discplainarian
        - adapts his scheme to talent available
        - Flexible not wedded to 1 scheme
        - simplifies things, smaller less complex playbook
        - good for young WR's

Yea BD it is the same thing they said about McCoy, except it's been true and he's run 3 systems in the past few years. He also made Decker and Thomas pro bowlers after they looked mediocre with Tebow (granted he had some help from manning).

why would you label those attributes BS when McMoy actually demostrated them in 3 years as Broncos OC?

Every coach gets those labels with a new team.

The multiple scheme thing isn't true for Norv, but the Air Coryell offense is so multiple, that it has all the elements so it is effectively multiple schemes.

I think the real problem is the expectations. Sportwriters and fans want coaches to adapt to what the players do well, but players have to develop their skills and raise their games, and that means doing things that they are bad at now, so that they can get better in the future. Flexible and a disciplinarian? Some of these qualities are conflicting, so coaches and players have to find the balance in those qualities and not every team/players/situations are the same.

Not saying McCoy couldn't / isn't some of theose things, but Norv sure isnt but my real point is the media / lazy sports writers say the SAME things about every new offensive coordinator ... McCoy is the anti-Norv, how can those attributes descibe both guys ?

And for defensive coordinators they say, he is really going to get after the QB, improve the pass rush, blitz packages for so and so, he a dictating defensive that sets the tempo, really going to get after them ... even if the guy has been a "bend don't break" DC his entire life.

Valid point. But Acee has been critical of McCoy, so it isn't all love and kisses. And McCoy is a first time head coach. No one really knows how he is going to ultimately perform. Norv, on the other hand, has a pretty well established track record and it doesn't back up any of the stuff I read in my newspaper. I think all the reporter did was read that Norv typically has a top ten offense and figured all that other stuff HAS to be true. And I keep hearing from just about everyone on radio and TV that Norv is the best play caller of all time. Any of you honestly agree with that? I was able to call out the plays he was going to run and I am just a guy who sits on the couch and watches football on TV.
