Report: Broncos cut offensive lineman Michael Schofield
47 comments
The Denver Broncos have parted ways with offensive lineman Michael Schofield.
by Tim Lynch@TimLynch1978 Sep 2, 2017, 11:30am MDT After dealing Ty Sambrailo to the Atlanta Falcons, the Denver Broncos have cut the other beleaguered offensive lineman in Michael Schofield.
According to Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post, Schofield asked to be traded when it became apparent he would not have a place on the roster. The team shopped both he and Ty Sambrailo, but ultimately there was only a market for the latter.
After a disastrous 2015 season trying to play tackle, Schofield started to look like a functional player last season once he moved inside to play guard. He finished the season with a 77.3 pass block grade from Pro Football Focus.
He continued to show promise throughout the preseason, even posting one of the highest PFF grades in the final preseason game.
It appears the Broncos front office had seen enough and are ready to completely overhaul the offensive line from top to bottom and that means cutting ties with many former starters.

Vasquez is a OG and didnt play RT until Schofield was doing awful and Vasquez stunk there himself and then put Schofield back in there. Vasquez wasnt a good fit in Kubiaks zone blockng scheme and he got cut before last season because of that and he cost too much and had nagging injuries. If Schofield was better as a OG then thats good news but i only remember the terribl player at RT. Fluker wasnt much better as a OG either but was better than a RT is how i compare it.Last edited by Boltjolt; 09-03-2017, 01:08 PM.
