MG is just a guy.
The fact we traded up in the first to get him makes it more painful( what was it, a 4th? TT would have blown that anyways so no big deal I guess)
Plenty of good backs taken later in that draft( Ajayi, Johnson)
Agreed he's not a north/south runner. He takes too long to pick his spot( granted, they are small or non existent at times but he just needs to get up in the line) And he does seem to get dinged a great deal as well.
Need to draft a back next year, somewhere in the middle rounds.

You know as much as im not liking coach lynn I think he does need time to mold the team how he wants it. Lets face it he wants to be a run first coach and i'm all for it except we don't have the Offensive line to be a run first team. So lets see if he can make some adjustments until he gets the right personal which will probably take a few years. I wouldn't mind having a tandem like Tennessee does with Murray and Henry.

Tennessee has a good OL. Taylor Lewin, Connlin, Jones, Spain and Kline. 2 high 1st rounders and 3 guys off the street (although Jones was a 4th round pick for Houston).

I think our tandem could be pretty good if we gave them the help they needed. Good RB can make a running game better, but the Titans have a good OL that gets their running game started.

Not blaming him. He just got the wrong fit for the OL Tommy T has put together. To stubbornly continue to run up the middle with a RB that needs space is frustrating to watch.

Sproles up the gut for no gain when everyone knew it was coming was worse.

I think MG will be a pretty good RB IF we can just get him going. I think some of his lack of success is the lack of confidence in the OL, and he just doesn't hit the hole hard or is decisive in his cuts because he just doesn't believe the hole will be there.

We have seen some of our poor OL in the past play better when there have been good RB, just because if the RB can run angry and with determination, then the OL plays with more confidence and aggression, completing the chicken and the egg argument.

At some point, whether it is the OL or the RB, we need to keep feeding our RB the ball, and the run game will start to improve. It's just going to be painful until that happens.
