This run of specialists maybe as bad as the long snapper run that kept the #1 defense/ #1 offense out of the playoffs.

Coons was either really lazy or just couldn't kick 1 FG outside of 50 yd in practice and it must have looking really bad. He makes pretty much all short kicks in games and it was gone right through the middle. Or that they must see Rose as a much better kicker getting him off waiver, he wasn't available when we needed a kicker earlier.

Or it might be the combination of all above factors.

Coons did ok, but we never saw him at >40 (someone correct me if we did). We'll see about Rose, and if he can convert at distance. 80yds without an opposing line only shows potential. Maybe the Redskins cued the Chargers that they were going to bring back their kicker from IR, and watched him practice pre-game? It would have been a nice gesture if they did, my guess is that the Chargers have been looking all season, and didn't want to pass on an opportunity on a long leg.

              ATM in wikipedia:

Nick Rose (born May 5, 1994) is an American football placekicker who is currently a placekicker for the Los Angeles Chargers, who released Travis Coons for yet again staining the bed. He played college football at Texas and made his NFL debut in 2017 for the Washington Redskins, playing in eight regular season games.

Based on Rose's stats, it seems like they just being opportunistic and don't want to miss out on Rose. They chose the potential of Rose over short range accuracy but with limitation (weak legs) of Coons. Poor Coons, lol. It's a ruthless business.

Whoopee. I don't expect to see either of them her next year.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

We probably should of just kept Lambo and we might of pushed Denver to OT the opening week and possibly won, and more than likely win the Dolphin game where Koo missed twice.

Kickers are a beautiful thing when they make kicks, but the kicker we have had this season makes you want to kick them in the nuts.

Last clutch kicker we had goes way back Rolf Benirschke, going back down merry lane I want to kick Nate Kaeding in his nuts, for never being able make FGs in the playoffs
