2011 he had 1091. Needs about 80 to set his personal best.

2nd in the AFC... He looked confident yesterday. My only issue is his lack of vision but he tends (at times) to make up for that w/his power.

Not to take anything away from him (he's really turned it around these last 8 games ) but he does have a game up on the other RBs on that list.

I don't think the run blocking was all that great last night. I thought he earned some tough yards when holes weren't there

That's me. My kids are on lockdown. That would be the HS we would put them in if we went public school for them

I think Mathews has worked his butt off last couple of offseasons and gotten much more physical. I felt he didn't have sharp mind for the game and struggled in Norv's complex system and blocking schemes, until McCoy simplified running game and tailored it to his strengths. It helps when you have bigger OL with better run blockers, as well as commitment to the run, even when it's not working at times.

When Mathews has to read blocks, and especially wait for them to develop, he is not very good. He is a prototypical zone runner. He makes one quick read and goes.

One thing lost on last night, if we can make it to the playoffs, a game or two like this for Rivers is almost like getting a night off in terms of getting hit. And I can think of a better guy than a franchise QB having a career year to get a little extra rest so that he can be extra sharp.

Oh, and didn't Rivers pass 4000 yds for the season last night?
