why all the Pat Mahomes hype?

Can't go a day without an article popping up about this guy.

Big arm and can run...great. What else am I missing, though?

I think he will be a pretty good QB. He was my favorite in the draft class. Im not going to sleep on him or the Chiefs until we beat them. They own us.

His upside is tremendous and people close to him are blown away after working with him. The fact that Reid had the highest rated QB in the league and let him walk for a guy with one start shows you what he thinks. I expect he'll go through growing pains like all young QBs do. But he has the luxury of having a ton of talent around him on offense and a coaching staff who is extremely creative and will come up with things to help him. The big fear I have with him is his ability to keep a play alive and with someone like Hill and his arm, we'll see a lot of huge plays. I'm not sure if it's good or bad to play him in his first game this year. On one hand, we can throw a lot at him and try and confuse him. On the other hand, after a few games and some game film on him coaches will have a better idea on how to attack him.

Nagy was creative. Look at how their offense struggled when reid was calling plays then busted out when he handed that duty to Nagy. I smell regression for their O.

Andy Reid worries me, because he's a good coach, and a very good QB groomer.

Hoping Mahomes struggles early, but yeah, he could end up being good.

That is pretty much it. People are putting their trust into Andy Reid. If Andy Reid says Mahomes is good, he's good.

I've got a wait and see attitude though.

Here in the KC area they are pretty much taking for granted that playing qb in the NFL has a steep learning curve and are banking in the tallent around him. Still no evidence he can read a defense clime the pocket and other nuances of playing the position.

That’s the impression I get from them also. Most of them think they have the next Bret Favre.

Unleash some blitzes and cover the WR tight to slow their speed down. Make him have to make his progressions. I expect a lot of dumpoffs so have a lb watching for that and the qb runs.

I dont think we need to blitz too much and give their skill guys great matchups 1 on 1. We will generate pressure anyway. The odd corner/safety blitz will work well. He is good for 2 picks me thinks.
