Excellent move. We lucked out.Originally posted by La Costa Boy View Post
Philly is on the hook for 99% of what he gets this year. We pay the vet minimum for the season whatever that prorates out to be. So maybe he leaves the 10 cent head behind and gives us a .275 - 20 homer season as a vet. It's a no risk, high reward no brainer move. Cutting him would cost nothing and I don't believe Craig will put up with ANY bullshit knowing that option. Roll the bones here with someone else's money.

The San Diego Padres are looking for new ownership. The Siedler family announced the sale of the team last November, and there have reportedly been five groups that have placed initial bids to purchase the team.
YES PLEASE!!! Brees and Carlsbad based company Vuori in the mix. I would love this. A group that has roots in SD.

Man Merrill is looking good Padres fans I really like that dude and he just hit one 3/4 up the batters eye in center field. Hope he stays healthy and has a big year. Also the world is about to meet Mason Miller in the WBC and we’ll see who can hit the gas.

That was beautiful to watch. Very good swings yesterday from Merrill. The whole line up was great yesterday. Fan-tastic! The only bad news was Song re-injuring his right oblique. But great to see him catch up to Castillo's 95 mph fastball on his home run.Originally posted by Boltdiehard View PostMan Merrill is looking good Padres fans I really like that dude and he just hit one 3/4 up the batters eye in center field. Holy crap teams are throwing stupid money at pitchers namely guys like Luzardo and Cease. IMO there’s only maybe a handful of guys like Skenes and Skubal worthy of a long term deal at 5-7 years and injury is almost a guarantee as well. Crazy and I believe the Padres dodged a bullet on Cease and yeah let him walk. Three years max for most pitchers IMO.
