I truly hope you are joking. McClain as our starting TB ? What have you seen his year or last (not 5 years ago) that Would lead you to believe he could be successful in that role?

Rest him for the Superbowl... :Beer1:

I agree with everyone else, maybe we'll get to see Green used more in the redzone. I can't understand why we don't use Green and Gates more when we get down there anyway.

I believe he will play. Probably a half or so like he did in Cincy. I am not sure how effective he will be.

              Nah.

Philip Rivers statement game. Pass to set up the run.

Kind of agree with both (well, not the nah). It's a pretty big loss, but rivers is and always has been the key. Bolts survived and thrived the second half last week against a better d then Denver without Mathews. Big loss, but rivers is capable.

                  With
                  1. Goodell already christening the Chargers as Super Bowl Winners,
                  2. The Chargers played the Eagles in their home opener, and
                  3. The Chargers losing to the Redskins

a Super Bowl win for SD is a sure thing. Sit Matthews for the rest of the season and have him be ready for next year!
                  Prediction:
                  Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

he hasn't been used like that the last 2 years we've had him. That's the brilliance behind it- Donks would never expect or be prepared for it. Biggest bitch people on here have about FB dive is McClain can't get any yards because he is starting from a dead stop and has no momentum towards the LOS & gets stuffed. Line up a 260 lb RB 7 steps deep and let him get a running start with good blocking in front of him and he should be able to fall forward 2-3 easy yards every time- and tire out the DL in the process. Mix in plenty of Woody and some Brown and it could maintain effective run game in place of Mathews.
Life is too short to drink cheap beer

The Ravens used McClain kinda like that early in his career.

Exactly, you'd think teams would use him like he was used 6 years ago.

The fact that they don't probably says a lot about his ability to be a RB

Woodhead is more than a capable starting tailback for 1 game. He might actually be a better changeup back since he is more of a threat on 1st and 2nd downs for screens. Id say start him and bring in matthews as needed. I really am not impressed with Ronnie at this point....very indecisive and has lost a step imo. Id prefer Woody take the load.
