Is Donald Brown really that much of an improvement in pass protection? Enough the justify a shittier running game?

Is it shittier? I think you focus too much on the running back. Effective running is far more about good blocking than anything a RB brings to the table. I like Oliver a lot, but I don't know that he is better than Brown at this point in their respective careers. You can't compare their production in games one played and the other did not. What was their production like in games they both played, when they had the same OL to work with?

Brown doesn't get better with more carries. His first runs have been his best runs. His average-per-rush is best when he has only a couple runs.
And, I agree. As long as Frank Reich is running the show, lots of carries for any runningback isn't going to happen often.
And I do understand the offensive line is more important than the runningback. We should start the center who helped us look decent against the Ravens. And we should probably replace Porkchops with Watt. Or we should leave Porkchops as the starter and keep Watt on the bench - no rotation - the rotating-guards idea was fucking stupid.
And Oliver, not Brown, should be the 2nd-string runner.
And we should run the ball in all 4 quarters.
I'm not saying we should run as often as we pass. That would be stupid. But we shouldn't run it zero times in a quarter. Whoever the starter is should get at least 15 carries per game.

By comparison, we signed Woodhead to 2 year 3.5 million contract with a 1 million signing bonus and look at what we got out of him. We signed Donald to a 3yr 10.5 mil contract with a 4 million signing bonus and look at how little we 're getting for that money
