I don't think he is even assured of a spot on the roster. He is a fall back guy who makes sure we don't have to reach in the draft. But if we find someone and they perform in TC, he is gone, and maybe even after OTA's.

The point is more that we can let him go at any time, as soon as we get someone better. If we get a FA, fine. Draft pick, OK. UDFA who shows in camp, fine too. And it could be a camp cut, or a late trade the 1st week of the season.
The guy is not a long term answer, but rookies, even high draft picks are inconsistent and some take a while to develop. Now we don't have to force anyone before they are ready. Let a younger guy develop his technique and then the guy has a chance to succeed.

Addae was a perfect example last year of what a depth guys learning curve should follow.
Obviously this means you have a ton of draft picks to acquire/develop that youth behind starters.
