    Freeney takes pay cut

@corryjoel: Dwight Freeney took a pay cut from $3.5M to $2.5M. His '14 cap number goes from $4.75M to $3,843,750 in the process.

not likely anybody specific. I expect Clary will also give something back soon to help the team capwise, and its been pointed out Rivers and Weddle could as well. IMO, this is more about getting flexibility to make more moves as needed when they arise.

Latest NFLPA cap shows about $5.3M available, not accounting for the rookies, so basically they have about $3M to work with. My guess is that they only did this to leave some for an emergency like the Freeney signing.

They had money to offer steve smith though. Maybe this happened before that offer and were only now finding out about it. Not like gehlken breaks anything

I think its closer to $4.6mil in room after subtracting the rookie cap.

This pay cut (probably more of a guaranteed bonus, vs. salary) just confirms that Freeney won't be a cap casualty cut. Good move by Freeney IMO, vs. risking getting dumped. The best candidate for a future reduction has to be Clary, I don't see an outright cut though.

LOL! I think it's really $3.8755654554 million. And my figure is probably just as "accurate" as the other two.

Money for the Jones (Green Bay WR)? Would be nice if Clary was agreeable to some sort of salary adjustment (whatever that entails).
