Rivers has said before that there is no way he will be playing into his mid 40s like Brees and Brady want to. He's also said he does want to play in the new stadium so it's pretty reasonable to think that a 2 year contract extension is about how much longer we will have him. I like the Stick pick and we have the luxury of trying to develop him to see if he could be the one. The downside is if we keep him on the roster than we are sacrificing another position, or else having him on the practice squad to get poached if he shows anything.

It's clear that Lynn values mobility in a qb. Rivers is still productive but he skipped voluntary camp and has 2019 left. I question the wisdom of investing $30m of the cap in an aging qb. If Rivers wants to win he needs to sacrifice. Otherwise, Lynn is getting guys at the position that have the tools he likes.
