From my untrained eye, it looks like the Chargers got a nice compliment DT to Mebane, a future FS(hopefully near future), a STs player and a gimmick QB. I'd consider that a good weekend.

Fit is absolutely why we take players over other players.
Telseco balked at the question of "value" yesterday. Saying he doesnt even know what that means when it comes to drafting players. That he takes the players that fit this team the best. Im assuming thats skillset and off the field. I think they rank them by best fit. So when they discuss BPA its based on their BPA's that fit.
Those were his words when asked about drafting Pipkins. He was a good fit for them. Im certain they felt Cortez was a scheme fit for them.
Cortez had a 4th round grade by many. This is a similar pick to Philon imo. They probably could have drafted Cortez in the 5th and Stick in the 7th and nobody would be complaining. Hes a really solid disruptive player.
So many people need draft picks to fit into their rankings or someone elses. Problem is the teams rankings of players are often so different than many of these gurus. Rankings are always all over the place.
Roto's Norris had Cortez in the late 3rd early 4th area. Roto's Thor Nystrom had a 3rd on Tranquil and 4th's on Pipkins and Stick. Rotoworld is extremely in touch with team staffs. They are leader in NFL news for a reason. I think these guys get a lot of intel gathered that is fairly accurate on players and what teams are thinking.
Just rankings. Teams dont care about them. We shouldnt. Its kind of pointless even complaining about a pick until we see how they play.

The SPARQ score is calculated using five inputs. There is no height or arm length component involved. The five components are:
(1) A Player's Weight (this "normalizes" the score, giving credit to a bigger player who displays similar movement skills to a smaller, quicker player)
(2) Forty Time
(3) 5-10-5 agility drill (some call this the 20 yard shuttle or short shuttle)
(4) Kneeling Powerball Toss (more on this later, but this replaces the bench press)
(5) Vertical Jump
SPARQ intends to blend an athlete's size, speed, explosive power, and agility into one metric

One thing that is very important to mention but I don't think it has been. Broughton had 5 different defensive coordinators, asking him to do all kinds of lining up on the field, similar to how the Gamecocks used Melvin Ingram. I believe it was last year, he lined up primarily at 5 tech, although he had okay numbers doing that, He is also 6'2 290 lbs trying to run around an OT, As a 3T where all he has to worry about is a guard or Center, I feel he can be very disruptive. He is highly raw but has a lot of talent, like someone else has mentioned, Think Darius Philon with more athletic ability. Probably the best pick IMO outside of Tillery and Adderly, although I do really like the Houston kid as well
