You can spend way too much on a FA OL and get little for it beyond wasted cap or waste a pick on an OL that doesn't work out. We've had experience with both.
I think you have to keep looking for development players from all sources, hopefully getting good results occasionally AND use that high pick or sign a quality FA when the opportunity is favorable. The Okung for Turner trade looks solid as does the Bulaga signing - but - we have not played a game yet.

Indeed. All the evidence points in that direction.
I also still think we missed the boat on Lamp by not letting him play OT - (because his arms are half an inch shorter)
He made up on that problem with his quick feetTHE YEAR OF THE FLIP!

The key to the season will still be how much can Campen get out of our "other" OL. They don't have to be superstars. But they do have to be at least average. Turner and Bulaga are good enough for the high end guys, but the low end guys have to be better.

There are fans/amateur scouts making comments elsewhere.
--Lamp finishes blocks extremely well.
--Lamp has a nasty streak ala Quenton Nelson.
--Lamp, however, fails out on the EDGE vs speed rushers.
I know nothing about the veracity of these comments.
It is interesting that someone would make these sort of comments, especially since we have simply not seen Lamp at OLT,
except going back to Western Kentucky days.
You might remember that Forrest stoned great Alabama EDGE Rushers,
in his limited action vs players of quality that high.
It almost sounds like Lamp is in AL's doghouse.
I find myself sometimes questioning Lynn's talent evaluating chops.
Don't all of you ?We do not play modern football.

This is his do or get replaced season, if there is a season.
Excuses suck.

This is essentially Lynn’s first year with “his style of offense/QB”
it would be foolish to start over now.
also, I think Telesco is tied to Lynn
so if/when we move on from Lynn, we’re gutting it all out, and thats a much bigger operation that requires a decent pool of candidates
I was finally feeling good about the stability, let’s see how we adjust this time around without James.
I think Lynn is only going to get better as a headcoach so unless there’s an obvious upgrade, let’s make a damn commitment and see it throughP1. Block Destruction - Ogbonnia
P2. Shocking Effort - Eboigbe
P3. Ball Disruption - Ford
P4. Obnoxious Communication - Matlock

He's had 3 years to finally put together his type of team: if it stinks what would you be expecting with another 3 years?
