Chargers vs. 49ers PS game #4 Analysis

Here we go. First play of the game, a counter run with some nice blocking springing Pope (4) for a big gainer. 1. Qberry keeps his man out of the picture long enough. 2. Pip starts to box out his man, then gets help from Culkin (3):

Later on, Jones had a nice back shoulder completion to Scott. Nice pocket by the O-line of Pip - Lamp - Qberry - Chris Brown - Django. This line played much of the game.

Another decent run and blocking here. 1. Q-berry blocking; 2. Pip nice block to keep his man sealed off outside. 3. Lamp stumbles and falls trying to keep up with... 4. ...#50 who blows by Lamp but overshoots, missing...5. ...Gore, who finds the hole for about 12 yds. and a first down.

Here's that change of direction play by Wilson Jr. that caused a big Bolt breakdown. 1. Afriyie follows the action 2. Egbule follows and 3. Tranquill follows. All three left a wide open field for a big gainer. There were already tacklers in place on the other side.

And here's what your D looks like after a RB changes direction:

A decent pocket on a completion to Patton. Pip at least keeps his man outside.

Again decent pass pro, even with Django picking up the blitzer and keeping him outside. Cardale had Scott open for dump off, but chose to scramble and still got first down. In pass pro, Drango kind of looks better than Tevi. There, I said it...

I focused on Pipkins last game and what I saw compared to game one was night and day. When you draft a guy as a "project" that is exactly what you want to see. I think he starts by mid season but next year I think he will make big strides

Again, pass pro is pretty decent, with a pocket intact...Django again has a quick enough shuffle to keep his man outside the pocket...Cardale dumps pass off to Newsome for positive yards...and by the way, I LOVE these little safety valve passes...dial up more of these, Whiz, or at least keep a back in a lot more often to give us that option...

Another counter play, almost a copy of last one, this time with Detrez. Nice blocks by Culkin (1) and Pip (2). Lamp (3) stumbles and falls again, but keeps his man sealed off.

Good pass pro again on a completion to Moore. Pip almost loses his man, but Jones got the ball off in time. I think if Rivers is in there, he gets it off a hair quicker.

Here's how you beat the blitz: Dump it off to the RB, in this case, Cox. Nice touch on the ball by Jones...I do see some improvement here.
