We caught a huge break.Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:
- 69-74 record
- 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
- Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
- 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
- 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
- Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
- Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

CONDENSED SLO-MO
Kyzir White-Thomas Davis
This combo needs to become more consistent. Kyzir was sometimes making great plays, other times out of the picture. We cannot have this at ILB. Thomas Davis was clearly thinking too much, slow on his reads. It is only natural that Kyzir/TDavis will study film, get acclimated together and this will improve. TDavis' play speed will become faster as he becomes settled in our defense. There were actually times you could see Thomas being slow to process. He will come on inevitably. They are both definitely making plays, sometimes involving subtlety, such as TDavis wrapping up just short of the first down marker on third down plays. It is frustrating to see Kyzir look great sometimes, and other times being the very guy to fail when he is the last line of defense on opponents' big plays. I see much potential in Kyzir. Perryman will get healthy. Tranquill is chomping at the bit. Do not forget how good TY Hilton is, regarding one famous missed tackle.
Austin Ekeler-Justin Jackson
This combo is going to be a lethal one-two punch. Austin Ekeler's burst is amazing. He leaves NFL players in the dust. There is surprising power from leverage and natural strength, as AL says. Jackson knows he left yards out on the field. Still his vision and hops will really elevate our scoring offense, and that is what matters. Solid A- to both on the all-important Pass Pro.
Trent Scott-Dan Feeney-Sam Tevi
Well there is reason to be encouraged here. Or maybe I should say relieved. As Popper/Jeremiah stated, TScott did not have a bad day at the office. Optimism comes from looking at his bad sequence with the strip sacks. TScott has an ongoing bad habit of occasional poor hand placement in Pass Pro, and it was there on his three bad plays. He will be coached up on that. What stood out was the kick out blocks that TScott, Feeney and Tevi made on running plays and especially screens. This is really something we can cash in on. I was pleasantly surprised by Tevi's effective blocking. Feeney is definitely improved. He is squaring up better, and staying balanced in his blocks. Lunging and missing, going for the big block, is replaced by sustaining a block to give Ek/JJ good looks-and they will make decisive cuts. My chorus line comment is apt, because the Oline became more in rhythm as the first game went on. Defenses less athletic than IND are going to be destroyed.
Defensive Line
Bosa could have had several sacks. He was usually good in run defense. Ingram could have had more than one sack. Our best look was Bosa-Ingram-Tillery-Rochell. Mebane, Square, JJones, Tillery were getting standoffs, at least sometimes, vs the great IND Oline. I will stack them vs DAL all day, every day. IND play action will make defenses suffer. Ours will get better. Rayshawn will get better. Nasir will appear. MDavis' hammy will heal. Facyson will get his sea legs. Then Derwin will be back.
Our IOL must continue to trend up vs the stellar DET defensive front. They are loaded with that group. As the early portion of the season develops, our screens and spread running plays will really give us a shot while our Oline slowly moves up to the adequate category. It is clear that our blockers love to get out in space and do work.
Out.

Re-watching the game, Thomas Davis messed up more than just on the tackle on Hilton at the end of the game. He looks to be the one primarily responsible for giving up the 1st TD for Hilton as well and the Jack Doyle beat him badly at least twice with Brissett missing him one time and then connecting on the other time for a 20+ yards play. He was trailing Colts players on at least another 5 plays as well as they got by him in coverage.
He looks extremely slow. The strength of our defense last season was the speed of our LBs corps imo with Phillips, Brown and White all being quick to the ball.
Davis is going to be a major liability in coverage and he will get exposed even by lesser QBs like Stafford going forward imo. I'm not sure how he's an upgrade over Perryman who is probably equally bad in coverage but at least is a sure tackler and much more useful to stop the run.Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

2:12 mark. Call was complete bs, Cam Thomas didn't do much of anything. They just used this situation to highlight a new rule.
