It certainly should have been managed differently.

This is the part where we have to blame ourselves.

We needed an inside run to the 15 yard line, then two shots in the end zone.

Put the ball where either KA/MW catch it for a TD, or it is incomplete.

    That is situational football.
And Wood, this is the pure essence of Rivers playing "hero ball"...instead of going for the higher-percentage throw to Mike Will, he FORCES the rock into double coverage for a pick...seen this so many times, and you would think he would learn not to force things...I'm guessing Lynn has a talk with 'ole Phil...

Keep in mind Rivers has almost no time to throw. He has time to make one read and the pocket collapses. He looks for KA first which he should and then doesn't really have time to look for anyone else.

He's doesn't have Brady's OL where Brady has time to stand in the pocket for 3-4 seconds.

1 read? That is complete bullshit! The offensive line has played much better than anticipated.
We need to eliminate mistakes, penalties, brain farts, and improve winning third downs/scoring opportunities.

The good news is that the Chargers made so many mistakes in this 1 game that maybe they got all the dumb mistakes out of their system in 1 game

                  We can certainly hope so.

I actually agree completely. No OL is perfect and I think ours has more than played well enough to be 2 - 0.

Okay, let's take a close look at how much time Rivers had on that final play when he got picked. Clock shows 1:10 when the ball is snapped. Maybe even add an extra 1/2 second, because the shotgun snap is in mid-air. By the time Rivers releases his throw to KA, (below) clock now reads 1:07. So, by my count, Rivers had at LEAST 3.5 seconds to throw, plenty of time to check down from KA to Mike Will or someone else. And when Rivers threw it, the pocket wasn't anywhere close to collapsing, so he probably had another 1-2 seconds or more.

Our O-line is bad at pass blocking. Near the bottom of the league. But they did not cause us to lose to the Lions.

Pump fake the safety towards Allen and hit Mike W on the 5yd line, let your receiver break the tackle for TD. Rivers had plenty of time and choked this one
