I agree with OIP. The Dallas starting OL controlled our DL. The Seattle starting OL controlled our DL. We can't stop the run so far at all. Maybe things will get better for us, but it looks like our guys are getting physically dominated.

It seems every year no matter the regime since loss of Jamal Williams et al era, this D has been holding this team back . I think McCoy and TT are bright people to see this and will need time to right this ship , but you see the way Seattles front seven is athletic and aggressive never mind that they also have the best secondary but I just don't see explosive pure strength and speed especially from the front seven on our D. Yes guys like Butler and Liuget are solid but u watch Seattles D play and it looks like they're operating at a different speed . Not sure how much Pagano will be on the hot seat this year but I was expecting more cohesiveness and these guys better get their act together cuz we could flat out get embarrassed with this tough schedule

We don't have the personnel to match up with Seattle in any meaningful way, particularly once you start getting into our depth. So I'm not too smashed up that we were beaten or even beaten badly. I recognize this wasn't a fully installed gameplan, but I'm not even seeing moments from some of the individual players and even when you're playing vanilla, you're hopefully trained to keep containment and you work to beat your man, even occasionally win a battle when you're overmatched. You play good help defense. You take good angles on ballcarriers. You wrap up and tackle. Sorry, but this is the same goop on that side of the ball since '09. The preseason is meaningless? Maybe. But you should be showing some evidence of what you've been learning. I could be wrong. Maybe they are sandbagging on their tackling.
But unless they are, this will be Pagano's last season. I think we'll be improved over last year provided everyone stays healthy. We have more players. More depth. But I don't think they are receiving the kind of leadership and development needed to progress to the next level. I'm not just talking about this game, but the lack of progress is visible and consistent with a long pattern. My two cents. I could be wrong.
PS- haven't even had one drink tonight LOL
