Mojo Rich!! My friend's wife had her thyroid removed because of cancer and is doing well. Not an expert, but I do believe it's one of the more treatable cancers. Thinking good thoughts for the both of you.
Question for the doctors and a little mojo needed

She will need to spend the night to monitor her calcium level, but most patients left the next day.
You should ask how often your surgeon does the procedure. You want someone that has done a significant number of these procedures regularly.
Stay positive. In reality this is a positive that it was caught early. Once there are signs/symptoms/mets, the prognosis potentially worsens. The quality of life following the surgery should be the same except she will have to take a little pill (levothyroxine) every morning.
Feel free to PM me.

Rich, first, you and your wife are in my prayers and in my family's. And I have more kids than RIvers, so you got a lot of us looking out for your wife.
Second, my sister in law had this, had the surgery and had a full recovery. Has to take the meds Beerman mentioned and put on some weight because they could not regulate her metabolism properly or as well as a thyroid would. But she has been absolutely fine. Everyone is different and situations vary, but hopefully that gives you both some peace.
Best

Praying for her and your family. Went through some sucky cancer with my fatherinlaw and so much is how early they catch it. Just keep your wife smiling every day and keep the kids from worrying. Let us know how things go...life has curve balls for us all and we got your back wherever we can.
Cheers
Kevin
