The Niners had this guy in for a tryout today. Led the XFL in receiving playing for the Seattle Sea Dragons. 5-7, 4.28 speed.

I’m not against smaller, speed demons on my team. I just don’t want to spend a 1st rounder on them. Size counts in the NFL. But speed does too, especially if it comes cheaply.

Seriously i think the ref outfits in pro soccer are much better and cooler looking. Low pay plus looking like a zebra dork is not respectful. Time to upgrade the NFL thinking and make these guys look like cool decision makers and proper officials.

That's depressing. The NFL seems to be moving toward pro wrestling standards.
I hope they give the Chargers a Lombardi trophy before I leave.

Probably because if all the dumb rules they have to enforce and the scrutiny they get. More stressful.

You'd think that the league that makes so much money would just hire full time refs instead of old lawyers who can barely run up and down the field.

And while I am at it...why don't they implement more technology like other sports have to take some of the "human" element out of it? You could put a chip in the ball and use to accurately spot the ball when a player is tackled, especially in a pile. You could also use it to instantly compare with the first down markers to see if a player got the first down and especially at the goal line to see if the ball crossed the plane. It would speed up the game and eliminate some obvious bad calls.

and lets forget the soccer ref uni's - lets get NFL refs some yellow and red cards! Lets see them run up to the offending player and wave that card in their face each penalty!
