Former San Diego State and NFL running back Ronnie Hillman is reportedly in hospice care with liver cancer.

The news came Tuesday from former Denver Broncos teammates Derek Wolfe and Orlando Franklin on Denver’s 104.3 The Fan.

“He’s got bad liver cancer and he’s in hospice now,” Wolfe said. “It’s not looking good. He has pneumonia and I’m putting it out there just to send positive vibes his way.”

Former SDSU running back DJ Pumphrey, who is now a graduate assistant for the Aztecs, tweeted: “Lord please watch over my Aztec brother! My prayers will never stop big dawg!”

Hillman, 31, a Long Beach native, starred at SDSU during the 2010-11 seasons, starting an unprecedented nine-year run in which the Aztecs had 11 players reach the 1,000-yard milestone.

Hillman rushed for 1,532 yards and 17 touchdowns as a freshman and 1,711 yards and 19 TDs as a sophomore before declaring for the 2012 NFL Draft.

Yes, that was a little confusing, but it was a former teammate who called it liver cancer. The family's statement says "renal medullary carcinoma," which is a kidney cancer:

I remember Hillman at SDSU - a great back on the Mesa, turned the joint into RB U. this is sad news.

I know he is a QB friend just being sarcastic as I have never thought he was all that good lol. Fair enough if you do and I do agree that we need another option if God forbid JH goes down for an extended period of time.
