I am aware of that fact and I already posted the trade chart for Mahomes, but let's go over this one mo' time. The Kansas City Chiefs selected Patrick Mahomes in the first round (10th overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Buffalo Bills traded the 10th overall pick to the Chiefs for their first round pick, third round pick, and the Chiefs' first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Chargers are going to have to give up a comparable compensation. Using this dataset that the Chiefs moved from the 24th to the 10th, we can look at the trade chart and say a move from the #6th overall to the #1 is comparable. I would say the market bears an offer to Cincinnati of the Chargers 6th Overall pick in the 2020 draft, plus the Chargers 2020 3rd Round Pick, and the Chargers 2021 1st Round Pick.

QB draft talk … Not sure if in the end it will change anything, but there have been some interesting public statements by and about the top QB prospects for the 2020 draft. LSU’s Joe Burrow, the presumptive #1 pick at this year’s draft, for example, was quoted on the Dan Patrick radio program yesterday that he wanted “to go to a great organization that’s committed to winning Super Bowls.” While he didn’t name names, most observers took it as a not so subtle dig at Cincinnati, which holds the top pick and are expected to select the former LSU star. Burrow’s comments come just days after former Bengals’ QB Carson Palmer said that he left that organization because he didn’t feel they were committed to trying to win a championship. And it wasn’t lost on people that Burrow is currently training with Palmer’s brother Jordan in preparation for the draft. Of course, Burrow doesn’t have much leverage short of sitting out the year if he were to be selected by Cincinnati and genuinely didn’t want to play there, but it is something that could give the Bengals some pause as you’d really like the guy you choose to be the face of your organization to sort of want to be there.

This could become an issue with the Bengals and Joe Burrow and his agent.

That is a big part of why teams typically don't give up 2 picks any more. Now, you frequently see teams trading value, but coming away with a similar number of picks. Teams may switch picks in higher rounds, or the team on top will give late round picks back to the team making the trade. When team are giving up picks, it is typically for a player.

Burrow has FOUR agents, including the heavyweight agent champion, Tom Condon:

If you were Joe Burrow: Choosing whether of playing in Cincinnati or maybe he'd rather play in the new stadium in Los Angeles with a stout defense. It can be arranged.

So called Jimmy Johnson chart (definitely not from JJ though, it is just named after him because he used it) -> https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/5/...de-value-chart
On this chart it would basically take This years #1, next years #1, this years #2, and some other stuff.

For that, just our #1 this year and next year.

And the usual disclaimer, don't take the values too seriously. Teams know that because any given team has a discreet value available, they can't match values one to one.
THat is because, which is a useful approximation, it does not account for the discretization problem (see above), or the fluctuations in any given draft due to position availability and/ needs.

I agree that each team’s value chart is based on their braintrust’s research and organizational make-up.
The more important aspect is the prospects ratings.
                    Example....
If the Bungles are planning on drafting QB at #1, have Herbert, as their top rated QB and as their only elite QB prospect, they would put a higher trade value on the #1 vs say the “main top 3” as only marginally separated.

Each team then has to evaluate the risk/reward of trading said asking price vs counting on the bungles bungling it up. Depending on each team’s board, prospect ratings, and team positions of value & need,

                      All speculation.

Also what leverage does Joe really have?

Sit out? Enter next year as a 24 yo (who will turn 25 during his rookie season) that hasn’t played a football game of meaning in over 16 months?
                      Good luck to him.

Not so sure the Bolts would be all that attractive to Burrow, either, with skimpy fanbase at home games, and O-line woes...Burrow could pull an Eli until a better suitor comes along to make a deal with the Bungles...
