    Leslie O'Neil - Charger's Hall of Fame

Defensive end Leslie O’Neal, the Chargers’ all-time leader in sacks with 105.5 and one of the most dominant pass rushers of his time, has been selected as the 37th inductee into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame.

O’Neal’s formal Hall of Fame induction will take place on Sunday, Oct. 19 at halftime of the Chargers’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Leslie’s accomplishments on the field speak volumes about his contributions to the Chargers,” Chargers CEO A.G. Spanos said. “He was one of the most dominant players in the League during his tenure in San Diego. Leslie was a play-maker on defense; one of those players our opponent had to account for on every play.

“On behalf of the Chargers, congratulations go to Leslie on this much-deserved recognition.”

If Winslow showed up, Leslie will.

This induction is long overdue. With apologies to Fred Dean, their greatest pass rusher. That injury in his rookie year was devastating, he was virtually unstoppable that year.

Gotta think they have already reached out to him.

For as much negative talk there was about Dean's children taking over the franchise, it sure seems like since AG and John have taken on more power this franchise has gone in a much different (better) direction.

                  Agreed
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

But does it have to be against the Chiefs? One of the teams O'Neal played for when he left?

He was so awesome as a rookie. I was devastated when he blew out his knee half way through the year. Then he came back and was just about as awesome as he was pre-injury. Great player. Also, as someone else pointed out, very similar to Winslow. Great talent, reportedly a BIG JERK.

#Chargers CEO A.G. Spanos said club decided years ago O'Neal would be in HofF. Schedule conflicts, trouble reaching him part of delay.
