Gates has not really been a factor for years but I do remember the first decade he was almost unstoppable...father time caught up with him.
Chiefs won the Superbowl with 10 Rookies....

Funny how L.T. and Gates are employed as Charger Ambassadors.

I have this gut feeling Rivers won't do this.

I feel he is salty about the move from S.D. to L.A. creating 16 road games and the organization is dead to him, otherwise I don't think he would have moved if he was thinking about a job with the Chargers after retirement.

when Rivers is finished playing, I hope he does commentary on tv. I have a feeling that he’d do a great job!

He has said numerous times that he wants to coach high school football when he is done playing.

I've heard this, what a waste of knowledge to do just high school, he could be a great College or NFL QB coach or even head coach one day.

His dad was a HS coach, so that probably is something that always appealed to him.

Well his dad was never a HOF NFL QB, had he been a NFL coach that may have appealed to him as well. Maybe a year or two at H.S. then College then NFL. Then Rivers will not let Gunner sign with the Chargers ala Archie with Eli due to dysfunction and not wanting his kid to play 16 road games either.

Think of it this way - he has more money than he can ever spend. Coaching in the NFL takes all your waking hours - so how does that fit a family man. Why wouldn't you just take a job you thought you'd enjoy?

Or maybe he just enjoys coaching HS football, with little stress and demands on his family time and is happy doing what he loves. I guess time will tell.

I think you just made the argument for why he won’t be a Charger. He didn’t look like he enjoyed himself this season
