2003 was a mess, and then *GATES* - in fact you can track Charger success in the early 2000's by the health of Gates.Prediction:
Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

SAN DIEGO -- With interior offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger dealing with a nagging back issue that kept him off the practice field this week, the San Diego Chargers could be starting their third different center in four weeks.
Ohrnberger is listed as doubtful on the team’s final injury report for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If he can’t go, third-round selection Chris Watt could get his first career start for the Chargers. It would be San Diego’s third different starting offensive line combination in four weeks.

However, offensive coordinator Frank Reich has been anxious to see what Watt can do on the field after watching him in preseason games and in practice.
“I’m kind of torn, because you don’t want to have to see Chris play too much because we want to stay healthy,” Reich said. “But you want to see him play because this guy’s made to be a football player.
“That the kind of attitude that you see out at practice and in the meeting room -- he’s just a football player at heart. He’s got that football IQ. He’s got that football toughness. So we’re looking forward to him contributing wherever that is, and the other side of it is we’ve got to get him into the action, because guys like that can help us be better.”
Watt said the last time he was a spectator on the sidelines for three straight games that meant something was as a redshirt freshman at Notre Dame. But while watching, he’s been focused on soaking up knowledge from older guys like Nick Hardwick and Ohrnberger, and looks forward to the opportunity to play on Sunday if his name is called.

“I feel prepared,” Watt said. “I feel like the coaches put me in a good situation to be prepared for anything that happens out there. I’ve been able to play a lot of snaps at different positions, which I think has been good for helping me learn the offense. So I’m prepared and ready to go.”
The Chargers also could be down to two healthy tight ends on Sunday. A limited participant due to a hamstring issue on Thursday, Ladarius Green did not practice on Friday and is listed as questionable. Blocking tight end David Johnson also did not practice on Friday, and is listed as questionable with a shoulder issue.
If neither plays, that would leave San Diego with just two healthy tight ends, Antonio Gates and John Phillips. The Chargers could possibly bring newly added tight end David Paulson up from the practice squad to the active roster this weekend to add depth.
However, head coach Mike McCoy says his offense has enough versatility to still function with the rash of injuries.
“We’ve got a lot of talented players, and we’re very flexible, as you’ve seen from week to week,” McCoy said. “What we’re going to do, the type of players we have and the position flexibility with the quarterback we have, we’ll be fine.”
Players declared out for San Diego include running back Ryan Mathews (knee), linebacker Manti Te'o (foot) and linebacker Reggie Walker (ankle).
Rookie linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu (hamstring) is listed as doubtful. He did not practice for a second straight week, and played just one snap against Buffalo in Week 3.
Along with Green and Johnson, rookie cornerback Jason Verrett (hamstring) is listed as questionable.
Receiver Keenan Allen (groin), cornerback Brandon Flowers (hip), Gates (hamstring), safety Marcus Gilchrist (shoulder) and defensive end Corey Liuget (ankle) are listed as probable.Go Rivers!
