BTW, we open as a 7 point favorite.

The Jets also love to play at least 1 extra man in the box at most times. Either the guy is an extra blitzer, or is up to give an overload vs the run.
Either way, I don't see us being able to get the guy blocked in the running game, unless we can jump up to a big lead and demoralize them.

Our pass protection and blitz pickup has actually been OK since Az. Not that we got blitzed a lot the last couple of weeks, but we have been at least alright.
The big problem vs Buffalo and Seattle, was we were playing very good defenses, and we kept letting ourselves be forced into 3rd and forever time after time. Today's game plan, we stopped trying to run the ball, and used the ball control passes.
The difference this week will need to be, that if we get ahead and start trying to do the ball control passes, Ryan will try and trap our short passes, so Rivers and the coaches can't be afraid to throw down field if the coverage dictates it. In the long TD highlight from the Lions game, you can see that the jets coverage was trying to jump the short routes, and Stafford went over the top. We need to be able to do that. Fortunately, that is Rivers strength. Dink and dunk until someone gets impatient, then he burns them.

And it would be very nice to have Verrett and his speed back.
