With the limited offseason Im thinking we elect to go with some nfl experince over none.
might be the first season in a long time that no udfa makes the initial 53.
just a guess.

Id be disappointed with that.

Was just breaking down the numbers from the top mobile QB led offenses last year. And the results really lead to an effort to solidify those positions for our very own team. Many fans are upset we didnt add a 3rd #1 or #2 caliber WR to the mix. Like in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Then you look at the data and i think its clear that had we looked at those numbers we could have easily predicted what the team would do in the draft and free agency. And focus more on these positions...the positions most teams who run an offense like this.... are funneling production too.

There is a reason why Randall Cobb just got a 3/27M contract from the Texans. Everyone is so focused on the perimeter outside WR these days when it comes to offense. But they are blowing out WRs and bringing in slot guys?

The meat from teams like we are becoming is completely shifting towards these positions being solidified. IMO. TE, RB and Slot

I think you can go look at the players from these positions on most of the teams running this style of offense and see or even compare the players we have signed or brought in.

The Patriots haven't had but one decent outside threat ( Moss) in their 20 year reign of terror..
All their production comes from the slot.
About time the rest of the league figured it out.

And we go into that divisional playoff using a zone...but we didn't have the players to do otherwise...Belicheck had to be drooling...but still. All those DBs? I told my boys when we sat down to watch that game, that we better not sit back in a zone, or Brady and Edelman will carve us up early...its like we got outguessed on every play.

If a middle aged pipefitter who hasn't played ball since high school could see it....oh well. Water under the bridge I guess

Typically we sort of go into an offseason quiet time now. OTAs and MC would get a stuck thread and we discuss it. But with everything sort of on hold ill just use this thread as an overall roster build discussion. Because the draft and free agency are somewhat behind us and we can start to focus on the team and its build.

First of all, BB got to watch them in action the previous week.
For better or worse, that was our best D group.
Our DL was dominated, Mebane, Tillery, Jones got owned, Pass rush was almost non-existent.
Davis got owned. Tranquill was the lone effective LB available.
Starting CB Williams was out, Phillips & Adderley were out, DJ was coming off foot surgery.
Our run defense, pass defense at all levels stunk.

• That game was a 2018 season playoff game, player in Jan of 2019. Tillery, Tranquill, and Adderley had not been drafted yet..

Not to mention Derwin James didn't have a injury at that time nor was Trevor Williams on the team. I think he was a healthy bench since week 5 or 6 of 2018.
