Is that really a gotcha?

That might be the policy but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game where players and/or coaches aren’t interviewed briefly on the field.

Can you recall one where nobody was available on the field for a quick question or two?

Herbert made a quick recovery and answered her question but in hindsight I think he’s smart and mature enough to realize he represents leadership and the team better by answering the reporters question instead of trying to squirm away.

Normal procedure for an on field interview is for the reporter to get with the team PR person who gets the player over to the reporter for the interview, not a live on camera grab of a player walking by. It’s really a nothing burger. I just posted that because some have been saying he was obligated to do the interview.

I don’t think the argument should be they don’t have to do interviews. The argument should be she caught him off-guard and he was off for a total of like 2 seconds and then realized and then he gave her the interview very politely and kindly. for fucks sake - he’s in the midst of mayhem - let the world find the grace to not freak out for a week about a 2 second delay in realizing the situation and answering her first question. She’s not royalty FFS.

Acho actually defended him on his podcast, said just that, it was a human moment that Herbert quickly corrected and did the interview

Well it isn't completely untrue if we are being objective. The only reason the Chargers won is because of the 5 turnovers the Eagles committed.

The offensive stats that Herbert and the offence put up have never ever won a game in NFL history before and will not again any time soon.
