He corrected it so quickly, its absurd it was even made into a thing.

The offensive stats that Herbert and the offence put up have never ever won a game in NFL history before and will not again any time soon.
Yeah but it was the Chargers D that forced those turnovers. Especially the last INT. Then say the Chargers D won it. They have to give credit where it is due.

offensive stats are only that...for offense. there are 2 other teams on a football team and those 2 other teams played lights out.
I dont remember how the 85 Bears O was but I dont recall them being a juggernaut. They had Walter Payton and...Willie Gault?

the way i remember the 85 Bears, they were probably a straight B rated offense, but the defense was A+. McMahon, Payton, Gault and probably some other decent role players. The offense was not bad, but the defense was their ticket.

the 2000 Ravens were more lopsided, a C+ offense with an A+ defense. Dilfer and whatever. Same with Gruden's Bucs, a makeshift offense with an A or A+ defense.

They had a very good Oline with two bookend OTs ... not any weapons beyond the two you mentioned.

fun fact: Cliff Thrift was a linebacker on that squad

I think Brad Johnson is an underrated quarterback. Not an elite quarterback, but he made two Pro Bowls and was actually really good during the Buccaneers' Super Bowl-winning season in 2002. He wouldn't have gotten there without that defense, but neither would McMahon with the Bears, Phil Simms with the Giants, or Terry Bradshaw with those Steelers teams.

Dilfer is just a ridiculous situation. All he had to do was not throw the game away, which he almost did in Super Bowl XXXV, when a pick-six of his was called back because of a defensive holding penalty on a defensive tackle. It would have been 7-7 right there and a different ball game.

I agree Brad Johnson was a cut above Dilfer. i don't remember the rest of Johnson's career, but he put together a good year for their super bowl run.

speaking of Bradshaw and the squeelers...raplesburger had the worst rating of any winning QB in a super bowl IIRC. that running game and D won it for him.
