  • Predict the AFC West standings

Now that the draft is over, the coaching staffs are filled and most FAs are signed (please sign one more in Peters TT!), I'm wondering what everything thinks about how the AFC West shapes up this season.

The Chiefs won the Superbowl. Hard to imagine anyone unseating them this year barring, a Mahomes injury. They have another year before their 2 big contracts will force them to let a lot of players leave.

Broncos were 7-9. Their entire season rests on Lock and they certainly got him some offensive skill players in the draft. Not sure how long it will take them to get on the same page and how Lock does now that defensive coaches have a little game film on him. Clearly they feel the need to try and win shootouts with the Chiefs.

The Raiders are an odd bunch and I think they also want to go the winning the shootout route. I think they over-drafted players and it's really hard to trust Carr at QB. Would not be surprised to see him benched for Mariota.

The Chargers are trying to mimic the Ravens and 49ers smash mouth ball control offense and play good defense. I think the defense will be good, maybe even very good with some health and the infusion of talent from FA and the draft. The left side of the offensive line is a huge question mark and Taylor's limitations at QB will not leave the defense much margin for error.

I'll say it's the Chiefs winning the division and roll the dice for 2nd through 4th. I'll pick the Chargers second just because I always expect the best, followed by Denver and Oakland.

I'm tired of the Chiefs winning the division.

        Chiefs 7-1

        Chargers 5-3

        Raiders 4-4

        Broncos 4-4

Only playing half season due to Covid. Hope this is wrong and we have a full season.

Based on 16: KC 12-4; Chargers 10-6, Raiders and Broncos, one will be 9-7 other 79

Based on say 12 game schedule: KC 9-3; Chargers 8-4; Raiders and Broncos 7-5, 6-6, flip flop them

Chargers will win the division at 11-5 this year. Chiefs get beaten out on Tie breakers. I think our defense is gonna bully the Chiefs this year. If we move forward in the playoffs it'll be because the offense really gelled on the season.

You see this with TT at quarterback?

I know you were asking Classic but I am intrigued by what Tyrod Taylor will bring to the offense. I was a big Rivers fan - but last year - I could see the decline. Maybe in Indy with a home crowd, better OL, different coaches - he will be the Rivers we saw a lot of years. That said - couldn't count on that - so I want to see the new offense. More running game. The ability for the QB to make plays with his legs. So yes, a big question mark is how far can Tyrod bring this team. But also see the Chargers like the Titans last year. Run the ball, defense, don't turn the ball over, play good special teams, field position and grind out wins. I think Taylor can do that.

After Rivers this team is in a slight rebuild mode. You can't expect too much from Tyrod or Herbert if they let him start a few games. I see us 3rd or 4th. LVR really upgraded their team this year and QB Carr is more experienced than our QBs. Our OL will still be mediocre because of the LT position

I hope for the best but plan for a 9-7 type year

Yes. He was held back at buffalo with a cast no bodies at WR. He has that now and if the run game is as well like it should this team is a 10 win team minimum.
