Reading through Twitter this morning -IF THE PERSON ON TWITTER HAS GOOD INTEL -- it looks as if the NFL is preparing for 10, 12 or 16 game schedules. I forgot to save who wrote the tweet but as best as I can remember it will be as follows - seeming the NFL wants the least important games first and it does make a lot of sense:
Weeks 1-4: non conference games. So for the Chargers and AFCW this is the NFC South
Weeks 5-6: the two games each team plays the other teams in the division don't play. The Chargers finished last so they would play the last place finishers in the AFCN (Bengals) and AFCS (Jags). The Chiefs get the Ravens and Texans. So big advantage, Chargers. I think the Broncos get Steelers and Colts - not easy either
Weeks 7-10: I forgot the games, meaning division or against conference foes (AFCE) but these would include bye weeks
the rest of the season would be the conference games and for sure the last three games are division games
Now, week 1 - my guess is the NFL would want to showcase Brees v Mahomes or Brady v Mahomes in KC that Thursday night. I can see the Chargers getting the leftovers of Brady or Brees but hoping for the Falcons or Panthers
And based on this - would really like to have a 12 game season - such an advantage playing the Jags and Bengals this year!
