Results of the autopsy, Betsy died of Hantavirus (from rodent droppings), and Gene died a week later due to advanced heart disease, with Alzheimers. He probably didn't know his wife died, he was not dehydrated, but had no food in his stomach. The dog was in a crate, probably forgotten about after coming back from the vet. So sad Betsy didn't call for help for herself , thinking it was just a bad flu, and that no one else checked on them for two weeks.

There has long been a Native American story of bad spirits and the mule deer mouse in that part of North America.
